Welcome and welcome back to those who know me. A little more than 3 years ago, my youngest son asked me to find a children’s book about the history of Haiti. As I searched through various libraries and online, I was frustrated to only find a chapter book without pictures for high school students.
That is how “Friday Stories Learn About Haiti” came to be. As a licensed counselor, I wanted to not just create a history story but a book that included children who are excluded from picture books. A book that promoted critical thinking and emotional development.
I also wanted to help upcoming and new BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color) writers find their footing in the publishing industry. Watch this video to learn more about my journey!
